2008 Album "Time For Change"on Platinum Plus Records, Nashville Highlights Review For Arizona Band

Time For Change, become buzzword for 2008, is more than the slogan on everyone's lips regardless of genre, style, preferences, or groove. This is the title of an album and tune that introduced mainstream rock to the classical guitar works of a favorite son of Arizona, Charles E. Watson, Jr. With a bag of lyric and musical hooks, infectious licks, and rockin' beats, Charles Watson & Hollow Council set the bar for highlights.

Apache Junction, Arizona, September 10, 2009 – Charles Watson & Hollow Council, an Arizona based band, began as a recording project and contract between Charles E. Watson, Jr and Platinum Plus Universal in Nashville, TN. Watson's objective was to showcase his innovative classical guitar techniques and styles in mainstream rock. Having the option of hiring studio musicians or bringing in his own musicians, Watson enjoined three of his AZ bros. He brought in a drummer, Jesse Johnson, bassist, Josh Cummings, both of whom were band members with Watson in another band, and Chris Dunham for vocals to record in Nashville with him.

Charles Watson & Hollow Council took the music on stage for live performances to promote the resulting 2008 album, Time For Change.

In August 2008, just after the band played Sturgis 2008 Rally, Johnson became unable to continue performing and was replaced by Shane Walker, an eminent drummer.

The ongoing adventures of Watson's band have encompassed a meaningful plethora of stages, a loyal following, and many highlights including:

•  On Platinum Plus Records, Nashville label and recording in world-class studios in Nashville, Tennessee with Legends Hall of Fame Producer Robert Metzgar, producer Tony Migliore, and engineers Chuck Haines and Spike Jones
•  The album insert, an impeccable top-notch production, was the result of the cooperative efforts between Charles Watson and Ben Sams of Samson Designs in Nashville, TN
•  This 2008 album reigned No. 1 for 45 weeks straight on AAA Radio, breaking all charting records with singles "Stuffed Suits" and "Stop Wasting My Time"
•  "Empty Man", another single off this album, is on two 2009 compilation series CDs, RNR Radio and 3000 Indy Records 360
•  The album was picked up for international distribution by Platinum Plus/Sony/BMG Global in March 2009, however due to subsequent and ongoing changes occurring internal to Sony/BMG Global, that distribution is on hold for 2009 and will be re-initiated at a later date to be announced
•  Time For Change 2008 album is domestically distributed by Platinum Plus International.
•  Time For Change album is in KWSS Arizona Alternative Radio, 106.7 FM, rotation, along with improvised guitar duets recorded during a live interview with DJs D-Rock & Beef
•  The band hosted Final Fridays ROCKFEST in Gilbert, AZ, sharing the stage with line-ups of the valley's hottest bands for 8 months in 2009
•  They played one of the most envious of world-class venues, STURGIS 2008 RALLY in Sturgis, SD
•  Have a loyal fan base locally and abroad including a band myspace with over 5000 friends and a million+ plays on their music and an active commercial band website

COLLECTORS ITEMS INCLUDE:
•  "Building" band shirts, logo shirts, original gig banner, logo ballcaps, and Sturgis 2008 Souvenir shirts printed by Mesa Shirts N Things July 2008
•  The band put out a music video on DVD of the 2008 album live, with a Sturgis 2008 Flaming Skull souvenir label, recorded in Scottsdale, AZ at the infamous Chaser's Lounge
•  There is a poster series of 13 posters with the original artwork of Charles Watson, one for each track on the Time For Change 2008 album with song credits, first line, and CD graphics, plus a poster for the CD album cover with all credits, logos, insert, disk, and tray graphics for sale in the band's ZAZZLE online store
•  Collectors will find a signed and numbered limited first run edition of the 2008 album, Time For Change, for sale in the band's online store

This has all happened due to the cooperative and dedicated efforts of the band members, label, management, producers, artists and engineers, sponsors, and the greatest families, friends, fans, and audiences in the world ...

Charles Watson & Hollow Council thanks everyone involved for supporting this album project and music.

"We look forward to our next album, now in development, with a major line-up of pro players that'll rock yer socks off ..." says Watson, "We're Alternative Rock with a Classical Hook and a New Edge."

Arizona Alternative Radio KWSS, 106.7 FM, Introduces Phoenix Airwaves to Charles Watson & Hollow Council

June 4th, Charles Watson & Hollow Council is featured on KWSS Arizona Alternative Radio, 106.7 FM, interviewed by DJ Beef, and had four cuts off their Time For Change album aired and put in rotation for the first time on a domestic major market radio station: "Empty Man", "Liquid Sin", Fracture Me", and the album title tune, "Time For Change".  Charles Watson & Hollow Council will be in KWSS studios again June 25th for another live interview with Beef, D-Rock, and the gang.

Apache Junction, Arizona, June 6, 2009 – While waiting for the popcorn to pop, concerning the pending distribution for the album, Alternative Rock band, Charles Watson & Hollow Council, has blown the lid off the domestic scene on major market radio with not one, but four cuts off their album, Time For Change, including a live studio interview with KWSS, Arizona Alternative Radio 106.7 FM.  Another interview with the band at KWSS studios in Scottsdale, AZ,  is scheduled for the D-Rock & Beef's Thursday night show June 25th.

Two songs off this album charted Charles Watson & Hollow Council #1 for a record breaking official 45 weeks on AAA radio last Fall, "Stop Wasting My Time" and "Stuffed Suits". They now have a grand total of six, I'll say that again, SIX tunes, that's 50% of this album, with rotation airplay. KWSS introduced the domestic airwaves to Charles Watson & Hollow Council with "Empty Man" (which has a fascinating YouTube music video and was selected for two compilation CD series, one for Radio RNR, billed as the finest HotSpot for Rock on Internet radio, and 3000 Indy Records 360), "Fracture Me", "Liquid Sin", a top ranking myspace play favorite, and an extreme instrumental with classical guitar and keyboard orchestration,  "Time For Change", title song for the album.

And there's more. Yet, as has been the case since it's inception, Charles Watson & Hollow Council, continuously on the move to more exposure and broader markets with every twist and turn in the mix, says to stay tuned for some near-future announcements. All in good time, guys. All in good time. We're listening.

Charles Watson & Hollow Council Band Clinch 51 weeks on AAA Radio Charts

“Stop Wasting My Time” and “Stuffed Suits”, two singles off the 2008 album titled Time For Change by the alternative rock band Charles Watson & Hollow Council, have stayed on AAA radio charts for a whopping “43 weeks” straight, announced their label executive producer, Robert Metzgar on November 5, 2008. That was 8 weeks ago but it isn’t old news. To date, Charles Watson & Hollow Council’s album Time For Change has now been charted for 51 weeks, and still going strong. This kind of run for a brand-spanking-new band with their first album released August, 2008  is this Happy New Year’s Day record-breaking news.

Apache Junction, Arizona, January 1, 2009 – Charles E. Watson, a classical guitarist, is doing something new in the business of music. He’s making the classical guitar popular in arenas of rock genre listeners. This isn’t an easy crowd to please. The music either rocks or it doesn’t, regardless of sub-genre appeal; and there are as many interpretations of what that means as there are rockers. Multiply that by 51 weeks charted on AAA radio airwaves and you’ve got a lot of listeners across global spectrums liking what they hear from Charles Watson and his band, Charles Watson & Hollow Council.

Two singles off the 2008 music album, Time For Change, on Platinum Plus Records, Nashville, “Stop Wasting My Time” and "Stuffed Suits”, have continued to be charted for airplay on AAA radio stations for 51 weeks straight, to date.//

This music has everything, including sticky hooks and licks that stay in your head, full-speed-ahead scaling you can’t believe is really happening, grinding groovy crunches, “Iron Dog” Dunham’s haunting vocals of uniquely crafted lyrics with harmony and other vocal backups from guitarist and bassist, Josh’s aces and eights driving anchor bass on "Stop Wasting My Time" and Watson on his fretless Alembic bass on "Stuffed Suits". Johnson's exquisite drumming on the recordings are performed in the live band by Shane Walker, a top power-house drummer. So one of the stories goes, and of these, there are many, while rocking-out in the crowd, the band was playing “Stop Wasting My Time”, a chic leaned over and yelled, “This is the music I’ve waited all my life to hear.”

The current success of Watson’s entry into the mainstream rock music market with his classical guitar, superb songwriting and arrangements and first-rate band, is in the numbers. 51 weeks straight of AAA radio charting is record-breaking.  As Watson says, “It’s not supply and demand. It’s demand and supply. I think it’s natural for people to demand art as well as entertainment and I feel really good about the great reception the music on this album is receiving.”

Time For Change Album by Charles Watson & Hollow Council Band on Platinum Plus Records, Nashville Charts 43 Weeks on AAA Radio

Still number one. Charles Watson & Hollow Council album Time For Change has stayed on the AAA radio charts for 43 weeks, announced today by the album's executive producer, Robert Metzgar, today.

Apache Junction, Arizona, November 5, 2008 – When news comes straight from the desk of the Holy Grail incarnate Guru of the music industry, you'd better believe something important is happening.  Classical guitarist, Charles E. Watson, Jr. found his mentor in Nashville when he said he wanted to blow-out the mainstream rock genre with his new brand of guitar playing and an alternative rock band. Legends Hall of Fame Producer, along with a plethora of just as impressive and significant inductions and titles, Robert Metzgar, didn't blink. And that was just the beginning.

The resulting album, Time For Change. Two of its tunes, "Stop Wasting My Time" and "Stuffed Suits", have rocked the AAA charts to record-breaking heights with 43 weeks of play. According to the buzz on such things, there are three main factors that boost today's music sales. One is the live performances of the artist(s). Two, is the promotions of the same. Three is AAA radio play. Did Charles Watson & Hollow Council hit the jack pot? They're three for three and still going strong.

"Stop Wasting My Time", said M. E. Kibler,  lyricist of this song in an informal interview at Solidspace Studio, "Is metaphor. The music and vocal delivery are impassioned. Stuffed Suits is a fantastic mix of progressive rock and protest-style social commentary and a little punked-out. Just one spoiler is that this song features a cleverness that draws you right into the call and response male chorus chant, Stuffed Suits."

After a week playing Sturgis 2008 Rally with his band, Charles Watson & Hollow Council, Charles Watson stops off in Denver to play three of Denver's hottest blues clubs. Notably, his stint in Denver begins at Ziggies, one of the most famous blues clubs in the country.

Apache Junction, Arizona, August 15, 2008 – Denver is filling up for the DNC convention slated in the mile high city. Arizona classical guitarist, Charles Watson, just ripped for a week with his band at Sturgis 2008 Rally in Sturgis, SD, but he isn't finished. First up is Ziggies in Denver, Colorado's oldest blues club, playing a Special Event Saturday evening from 4 to 7 pm on August 16. Watson is appearing at Bushwacker's Blues Bar to open for The Incidentals, Tuesday night, August 24 at 9:30 pm.  Tuesday night, August 26, he is playing at the 3 Kings Tavern, at 9 pm. After Denver, Watson will be taking his nylon strings and manicured techniques to Albuquerque, New Mexico ... //

Charles Watson & Hollow Council Book Sturgis 2008 Rally in SD, One of the Largest Venues in the World

So one of the stories goes, "It took me 5 years before I could get booked at Sturgis," said a well known Country music star, who will remain anonymous, when he heard the news that Charles Watson & Hollow Council had just snagged one of the most enviable gigs in the world. August 2 through 8, 2008, when Charles Watson & Hollow Council are playing in Sturgis, SD, is three days short of two weeks before their album "Time For Change" is even released.

Apache Junction, Arizona, August 2, 2008 – Charles Watson & Hollow Council are ecstatic. They are also in South Dakota playing on stage at the Sturgis 2008 Rally, one of the largest venues in the world. "I got hold of my manager and said we were ready for a large venue. He put me in touch with another fellow. He began working out a gig for us at Sturgis. It was kind of a last minute thing," says Watson. "We were going, then we weren't, then we were, then we weren't, and had just about resigned that something as big as Sturgis wasn't going to happen quite yet." Then a last minute confirmation came with a phone call and they were out the door and on the road. ...//

Platinum Plus Records, Nashville “Time For Change” Album Beats 2008 Presidential Candidates to the Slogan Punch

“Time For Change”, a song off Platinum Plus Records, Nashville, new recording artist's album, Time For Change, says it all for this Presidential election cycle's theme. Everybody wants to claim "they" are the agent of change. But Charles Watson, Arizona classical guitarist, beat them all to the punch and is this Happy New Year’s Day record-breaking news.

Apache Junction, Arizona, January 1, 2008 – Last September 2007, the first US Presidential nominee ad to run with the 'agent of change' theme was from the Hillary Clinton camp launching advertisements in Iowa and New Hampshire. Since then, everyone in the race has followed suit trying to come up with a different way to say that 'they' are the one to initiate 'change'. Over a year ago, Charles Watson, Arizona classical guitarist, had already announced the title of his new album would be Time For Change and had begun composing his title song, "Time For Change".

Maybe that was prophetic of Watson. Maybe he was way ahead of the wave.  Who knew what the year 2007 would usher in? Charles Watson was all about doing something new in the world of rock music, bringing the classical guitar into a genre where no one had ever ventured, to showcase new techniques and direction for new sounds and ideas. The title song, Time For Change, is an extreme classical guitar instrumental of deep passion and moving passages of contemplative extravaganzas of guitar work. Anyone interested in change they can believe in? Check out the album: Time For Change. ...//

October Marks Charles Watson & Hollow Council Debut Public Performance

Usually the band comes first, then the recording contract, then the album release, but there isn't anything "as usual" about Charles Watson & Hollow Council,  an alternative rock band who just finished recording a history making album, Time For Change. Apache Junction, Arizona, October 10, 2007 – Charles Watson & Hollow Council, alternative rock band with a classical hook and a blues edge, having formed as a band to record the album, Time for Change, on Platinum Plus records, Nashville, will debut the music live on stage at Crabby Don's in Gilbert, AZ on October 19, 2008. This is their first public performance as this band. The drummer, Jesse Johnson, and the guitarist, Charles Watson, have been playing together long enough to have been through a couple 10,000 master hours of music. Josh Cummings, bassist, vocalist, and hand drummer, has played bass with Watson and Johnson since 2004. For Chris Dunham, this is a debut return to the stage as a vocalist since the mid 90's.  This opening night is also an especially looked-forward to event for those who know the fellows in the band and have been anticipating just such an occasion. The world-at-large will be ushering in a new era ...//

BREAKING NEWS :: November 11, 2008 - RE: Label is on a roll with delayed single releases since election is over

In a recent Nashville Loew's Vanderbilt major label manager's meeting, the comment was made, "In an election year, how can you compete with political candidates spending over a 100 million a month for the attention of the media."  The answer was, "You can't."  Not even the major labels are willing to risk spending "suicide chart" money during an election  year to compete with the money political candidates are spending at every level with all forms of media.

Since the election result ... Time For Change album has been 1 for 45 straight weeks ... and now the single release of Stephanie Williams has jumped into the Top-150 at  Billboard with the hammer down on that and other releases that we delayed because of the political season.  Not even the majors are crazy enough to pour promotional dollars down the drain in an election year.  It's simply impossible to compete with the political parties in an election year for media coverage.

MARLENE PALUMBO
"Charles Watson & Hollow Council is an Arizona based band that has many experienced artists involved here//the hottest classic rock bluesy edge. This is a roster of some of the best artists to come out of Arizona. These unique talented artist bring each of their skills to the table. I wasn't sure what I was going to get when I opened the CD and popped it into the player ... pure pleasure here, from the first to last track. Lyrics that are intoxicating and intriguing, with music here that is classical, progressive, rock. Hollow Council offers something here for everyone. This band has all the components for a GREAT CD"  Marlene Palumbo of Indienink Music Store

My comment here will explain what I saw and felt about the show on Saturday. Maybe "show" is the wrong noun.... In the words of Larry Mullen Jr., it was a "spiritual journey" .... a lesson of the reality of life ... to tormented souls who want to escape and be free of our own plastic icons. This ... needs to be seen by thousands ... in an arena where it belongs in that Anthrax-church setting ...  Stand up and be counted ... is the message I get ...."Marc Montgomery :: MySpace Council Member

And I have received lots of emails from fans out there that agree. You guys keep on writing great music and we will keep on listening. These guys are the real deal."     Randy of Jambonie.com
